Gmp+B4 Transport has been developed for transport enterprises and forwarding companies that conduct their activities, among others, in the carriage of goods for the feed market.

B4 constitutes a set of procedures relating to the safety and proper organization of transport and methods of its management that an enterprise must apply so that an auditor may confirm their correct implementation with a certificate.

GMP+ B4 is one of the GMP pillars. This standard embodies the rules developed and tailored to transport enterprises. As a result, standards have been prepared to define minimum level of hygiene in the transport of feed commodities, contained in the International Database for Transport of Feed (IDTF) applicable within GMP+B4.

In order to implement a GMP+B4 Certificate an enterprise should be the holder of a decision issued by a Poviat Veterinary Officer certifying that the enterprise is under its supervision and has been assigned an identification number in this respect (feed industry). Once the implementation process has been completed the transport enterprise applies for an audit to be carried out by an independent certification entity.

During the audit the following nonconformities may be identified:

Category 1 – errors of low relevance the number of which should not exceed 10.

Category 2 – suspension of certificate issue till the moment corrective actions have been carried out.

Category 3 – no certificate issued or suspended.

Transport enterprise should meet a few various conditions and requirements.

All employees involved in the process must be aware that feeds are part of a food production chain. This allows them to feel responsible for safety during all processes connected with their transport activities. Based on the HACCP system, the enterprise must define in details safety rules, work out and implement procedures and instructions ensuring fulfilment of requirements of the said Standard. A Monitoring Plan must be developed in writing containing a check list of critical point of inspection regarding the transport of feeds and feed additives.

Feed safety requirements that should be implemented by the transport enterprises also include protection measures:

  • To Ensure strict control and security of the transport process against contamination;
  • To ensure proper technical condition of vehicles used in the transport of feed and grain;
  • To ensure limited contacts of vehicles used in the transport of feed and grain with prohibited goods;

Enterprises employed in the transport of feed and feed additives must take care of the maximum safety of goods. Enterprises holding a GMP+ B4 Certificate ensure their contractors that the feeds are carried within environment perfectly prepared for this type of transport. This guarantees minimization of hazards resulting in contamination of cargo.
